As an increasing pressure of food supply is becoming more relevant, solutions on urban farming are showing up more and more. One of the main issues however seems to be about space requirements in regards to space available. Opposed to hydroponics, aeroponics requires less space, less water, and no pesticides and the issue of space is tackled by the use of LEDs in stacked units to maximize efficiency and use of available space.

The AeroFarms systems allows for plants and crops to grow in urban environments, under room temperature settings, and no soil is needed. With the use of LEDs, the issue of sunlight for growth are disregarded and this could potentially increase energy savings significantly. However, this system does require a lot of maintenance, but the returns on investments are very promising.
